I was born and raised in the Kingston area, however as a competitive athlete traveled the world and pursued post secondary education and opportunity outside of Canada. I returned home in 1998 and soon after entered my chosen profession as a first responder. I started my career in the Toronto area in 2001 and returned to Kingston in 2002 where I built a life, family and meaningful career. The demands and challenges of my career along with unexpected loss caused me to contemplate important life questions. This examination ultimately led me to commit to a life of faith and was confirmed as a new Catholic at Easter 2025 at the age of 49.

 

During this period of discernment, I spent many quiet days in my garage wood shop crafting projects, covered in saw dust and taking in the aromatic smells of freshly cut lumber. As I slowly developed new woodworking skills and grew in my new found faith, I felt a strong pull towards a new mission, to use my life and skills as a way to serve Christ and make him known in the world. 

 

Most businesses define success by growing profits, however I want Barn Mill to be about something different and special. I want my new path to be driven by my love and devotion to Christ and his mission in the world. To be an instrument of his love and grace by using and sharing my blessings and gifts with others and to help them in their time of need.
